Soprano Joélle Harvey (last summer’s Anne Trulove in The Rake’s Progress) and baritone John Moore (this summer’s George Milton in Of Mice and Men) come to Des Moines for a special performance! Joined by Allen Perriello, the program reflects on the four seasons with a variety of solos and duets sung in German, French, Spanish and English. Don’t miss out on an unforgettable afternoon!

Artist Biography
A native of Bolivar, New York, American soprano Joélle Harvey has built a reputation as one of the finest singers of her generation, performing major roles on stages such as the Metropolitan Opera, Glyndebourne, Royal Opera House, Zurich Opera, Teatro La Fenice and the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence.
Harvey begins a richly-varied 2024-2025 season with Jane Glover and Music of the Baroque for Haydn’s Creation, returning to Chicago later in the season for the composer’s Paukenmesse with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (Manfred Honeck conducting). She sings Mozart’s Requiem with the St. Louis Symphony (Stéphane Denève), a program of Poulenc and Ravel in a return to the Milwaukee Symphony, and Mahler’s 2nd Symphony Resurrection for Music Director Robin Ticciati’s final season with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin. The season promises performances of Handel’s Messiah with the Houston Symphony (Jonathan Cohen), selections from Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with the Cincinnati Symphony, Bach’s Easter Oratorio & Magnificat with the Cleveland Orchestra and St. John Passion with Orchestra of St. Luke’s, both with Bernard Labadie, and Handel cantatas with Boston’s Handel & Haydn Society and Jonathan Cohen. During the summer of 2025, she returns to the role of Anne Trulove in Chas Rader-Shieber’s new production of The Rake’s Progress at Des Moines Opera Opera.

Artist Biography
A regular performer in both Europe and the United States, John Moore is garnering praise for his energetic performances and burnished baritone in both operatic and concert repertoire. He is a graduate of the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Program.
During the 2024-2025 season, John Moore makes his Lyric Opera of Chicago debut as Dillon in Mazzoli and Vavrek's The Listeners, and returns to Opera Philadelphia for performances of the same role. He also debuts with Washington National Opera as Steve Jobs in The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs, a role he has sung across the United States to great acclaim. With Odyssey Opera and Boston Modern Orchestra Project, he will perform and record the role of Kinesias in Mark Adamo's Lysistrata. He joins the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra twice this season, for concerts of Handel’s Messiah followed later by performances of Poulenc’s Le bal masqué. Future seasons include his debut with the Finnish National Opera.

Artist Biography
Allen Perriello is a highly regarded pianist, vocal coach, administrator, and educator. Allen is currently the Director of Artistic Administration at Des Moines Metro Opera. Previously, Allen was the Head of Music at Minnesota Opera and the Director of the Young Artists Program at The Glimmerglass Festival. A graduate of the Merola Opera Program and Adler Fellowship at San Francisco Opera, Allen has held music staff positions at Arizona Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, Seattle Opera, and Boston Lyric Opera. He has appeared in recital with a wide array of singers at venues including Carnegie Hall, Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, and Cincinnati Song Initiative. He judges regularly for the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition and Schmidt Vocal Arts. This season, Allen looks forward to residencies at The Hartt School, New England Conservatory of Music, and University of Iowa.
